WebJul 27, 2024 · The pathway to becoming an expert teacher is complex. Teachers must develop a range of knowledge bases, skills and competencies. Importantly, they need pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). PCK is the difference between knowing something, and knowing how to help others understand it. WebMeaningful – Expert teacher knowledge is threaded with their personal and professional values. They care deeply about their craft, and about elevating the life chances of their pupils (Schempp, 2002). As a result, they take full responsibility for their actions (Berliner, 2004), and are driven to continually improve their practice (Hattie, 2003).
