Throughout February, tundra swans take off from their wintering grounds in the Atlantic states and North Carolina, and arrive in southern Ontario in early March. These big birds travel about 4,000 miles each way during migrations, flying in a V formation as high as 26,000 feet and often reaching air speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
